information sought

From page 3 , The Orcadian weekly newspaper.
It appears we were not alone.
But is it the same person ?
Our thief didnt take any eggs. The other thief took eggs and cash ( unless the eggs were already sold and they  just took the cash as well)

We will have to see if the Orkney Crime wave continues .

Anyone with information should phone Crimestoppers 0800 555111

Follow-up reporting will no doubt be in the Orcadian next week.

A reward will be offered

There has been a crime.  A reward will be offered

The crime scene

The evidence

a plastic container containing £6.70 (4.00 float and 2.70 from egg purchases)  was removed  between the hours of 9pm on Wed 6th April 2016 and 6am on Thursday 7th April .

The remaining eggs ( 12 hen eggs) were left.

The police have been informed .

Very strange.

Someone has come past in a car.  In the middle of the night . In the dark. On an unlit road.

Why didn't they remove the entire contents of the box. Or even the box as well ?

A psychological profile  of the suspect

They are clearly not egg-lovers.
And have a need for loose change.

There will be a reward for any information  regarding the whereabouts of our 6.70 and its clear plastic  container.

The otters are back

Back in 2013 we had some vanishing ducks .
the puzzle started here , then we found a suspect and then a witness.

We've fenced the ducks in , in their new pond  and blocked the (easy) access  along the burn . But they do go walkabout  - they were photographed  on the road , and in the tourist season we do get people stopping , coming and telling us that the ducks are on the road.

So we came to lock the ducks up , and one was missing . A brief hunt found her in the undergrowth and limping ( and easy to catch - which is usually  bad sign)

And she was injured -

and the injury to beak meant that she wouldn' t be able to forage properly. So there was only one solution , and we are one duck fewer

At mating season otters tend to roam, so it probayl was a combination of the duck beign out on the road, near a burn , and an otter exploring.  If we loose any more we will have to think about breeding replacements this year ( but we werent intending to )

Repaired

Earlier in the winter we have a bit of a storm that  did some damage

The weather hasn't been too bad  so bit of pottering around at weekends  ( its only now light enough to do stuff in the early evening ) Ive managed to repair it

And ive taken the opportunity to create a shortcut - a gap in the wall that we can step through.

The only problem is the mud on the slope -  it will get easier when it all dries out a bit but at the moment its too muddy and slippery to use.

So id better have think about putting some steps in .
